Humayun, (in exile,1540-1556) – Abu’l Mansur Kuchkunji Khan (1510-1531), Shaybanid Silver Tanka, 4.72g, Shermard Samarqand Mint, countermarked with Adl Kabul 961 in rectangular cartouche. Very fine, extremely rare. AH 961 corresponds mostly to 1554 AD. Humayun re-captured Kabul in 1553 for a final time from Kamran, thus ending his war against his brother. He appointed Bairam Khan as his governor and spent the year at Kabul planning his eventual return to India. The death of Islam Shah Suri in 1554 gave him the opportunity he was looking for.
