Shilaharas of Thane / Konkan as feudatories of the Kalyani Chalukyas attributed to Aparaditya I, Punch Marked Gold Gadyana, 3.75g, Uniface, Nine punches – 1 x anthropomorphic Garuda with beaked nose running to right, 4 x lion facing right, 2 x Kannada letter ‘Shri’, 1 x Kannada letter A, 1 x Kannada legend Para on obverse (K Ganesh ‘Karnataka’ 5.53, plate specimen). Very fine+, extremely rare in this grade and rarity. Ganesh attributes this coin to the Kalahcuris. However, the legend ‘Apara’ and the central punch of the Garuda suggests a Shilahara attribution.
