After his 4th invasion of India, Ahmad Shah Durrani appointed Taimur Shah as the Nizam of the occupied territory of the Punjab, with Adina Beg, the Nawab as his governor. Adina Beg revolted against the Afghans and called the Marathas for help. A large army under the command of Raghunath Rao invaded Punjab in April 1758 and Taimur Shah fled towards Afghanistan. The Marathas occupied Lahore on 20th April 1758 and established their rule over the Subah of Punjab. T
