Chalukyas of Badami, Anonymous, Gold Fanam- 1/10th of Varaha Fraction, 0.37g, Obv: Caparisoned Varaha (Boar), the Chalukya insignia, facing right, Sun and crescent Moon above, Rev: Temple in stylistic form flanked by Flywhisks on two sides. Extremely fine, extremely rare. Varahas are the early known Gold units issued by the Southern Indian dynasty. The very name Varaha was derived due to the presence of Varaha, the boar insignia of the Chalukyas.
