Alamgir II, Silver Rupee, 11.03g, Medak Mint, AH 1169, Obv: Persian legend “Sikka zad dar Jahan chu Mihr Muneer / Thani Sahib Qiran Badshah Alamgir”, Rev: ‘Julus’ formula with mint name (Unpublished in major publications). Beautiful rossets on both sides. Complete Mint name on bottom of reverse. Very fine+, exceedingly rare. Nizams of Hyderabad, local ‘Chalnee’ issues. Medak is one of the rarest late Mughal mints with less than five coins known so far. It was a Hindu ‘Samsthana’ under the Nizam of Hyderabad ruled by a Zamindar Raja.
