Medieval Maharashtra, Probably Early Rashtrakutas, Uninscribed Silver Dramma, 1.15g, Obv: Three-quarters profile bust of a man sporting moustache and a ‘warrior’ hairstyle, Rev: Potbellied Kubera, God of wealth, seated facing on a lotus, flanked by two female attendants (one clearly visible). Patinated, very fine, extremely rare. A rare and unusual type found in North Maharashtra and Khandesh areas, which according to some scholars were the homeland of the Rashtrakutas. Their first capital ‘Mayurakhindi’ has tentatively been identified with the Markanda fort in the Satmala range of North Weste
