Raja Mahendra Dharam Pal, Gold Special Nazarana 1/2 Mohur, 5.40g, in the name of Shah Alam II, AH (12)33/ RY 7. About extremely fine, exceedingly rare. Raja Dharam Pal succeeded his father Maharaja Vikramjit when the latter abdicated in favour of his son in 1817. This half mohur was most likely produced as a special issue to fulfil ritual commitments that followed the investiture. The RY here appears to be counted from 1811/12 when Vikramjit formalized his relations with the British.
