Guptas, Vishnugupta Chandraditya, Gold Dinar, 8.80g, “Archer” type, Obv: King, nimbate, standing facing, head left, holding bow in right hand, arrow in left, Garuda standard to left, Brahmi legend “Vishnu” below arm, Rev: Lakshmi seated facing on lotus, holding diadem in her right hand, lotus in her left, traces of Brahmi legend to right and tamgha in left field (BMC Guptas 591-605, S. Kumar 17.13.1). Very fine, exceedingly rare. Vishnugupta is generally considered to be the last recognized king of the Gupta Empire. His reign lasted 10 years, approximately from 540 to 550 AD.
