Maharajpoor War Star, Bronze, 29th Dec 1843.Originally made with a hook to be worn on the uniform jacket but the hook here is broken. Un-named as it was awarded to an Indian. Very Fine+, Extremely Rare. The British won the Gwalior Campaign and by General Order of 4th January 1844, the award of bronze stars was sanctioned which were to be made from captured guns of the Gwalior State. Although officially called the Gwalior Stars, the two versions became know by their own name, marking the two battles of Maharajpoor and Punniar. These battles were fought on the same day twenty miles.
