During the Mutiny or 1st Revolt of Independence of 1857-59, Khan Bahadur Khan, a descendent of Hafiz Rahmat Khan and the Rohilla Nawab of Bareli (1758-1776), declared himself independent of the Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar.
