Tin/Zinc, 18.55g, dateless coin with ‘DB’ monogram, thus attributed to ‘Damao and Bassein’

Tin/Zinc, 18.55g, dateless coin with ‘DB’ monogram, thus attributed to ‘Damao and Bassein’. Patinated with full margin & clear details. Extremely fine+, very rare. The Portuguese territory of Bassein was conquered by the Marathas in 1738-39, so the coin appears to have been issued in early 18th century, even though it is undated. Copper was in short supply at this time, and both the Portuguese and the British on the Western Coast India, launched large coins of base metal to substitute copper currency.
