Shah Jahan, Gold Mohur, 10.91g, Daulatabad Mint, AH 1069/ RY 32, Obv: Full name of emperor, Rev: Kalma with name of four khalifa’s, eight foils on both sides (KM# 259.2). Extremely fine, extremely rare. Shahjahan was deposed by Aurangzeb on 21st July 1658, corresponding to 20 Shawwal AH1068, the day on which he ascended the imperial throne, having defeated his older brother Dara Shukoh twice in the preceding months. The date on the coin is AH1069, which began on 28 Sept 1658, after Aurangzeb had crowned himself, which makes its issue in the twilight period of the Mughal War of Succession. It e
