Burhanpur, Gold Mohur, 11.04g, in the name of Shah Alam II, AH 1179/ RY 6, with the symbol of a horizontally placed Shivalinga on reverse, not listed in M&W but similar to silver Rupee listed as T3. Extremely fine, exceedingly rare. Maratha gold coins are extremely rare in general. The variety marked with ‘horizontal Shivalinga’ was first noticed in the collection of the British Museum. A couple of other pieces are known in other private collections.
