Satavahanas, Naganika and Siri Satakani, Arsenical copper, 7.85g, Obv: Pillar in railing, with the name “Naganikaya” (partly visible) inscribed vertically on it, surrounded by traces of “Rano Siri Satakanisa”, double struck, Rev: Ujjain symbol within a beaded rectangular border. Extremely fine for type, extremely rare. Naganika was the chief queen of Siri Satakani, known from her inscription at Nanaghat, which mentions performance of several Vedic sacrifices, including the ‘Ashwamedha’.
