Azam Shah, Silver 1/2 Rupee, 5.74g, Surat Mint, Ah 1119/ RY Ahad. Extremely fine, exceedingly rare. Azam Shah was son of Emperor Aurangzeb by his first wife & chief consort Dilras Banu Begum & thus Aurangzeb appointed Azam Shah as the Shahi Ali Jah (Heir apparent). Upon the death of Emperor Aurangzeb Azam Shah ascended to the Mughal Throne at Ahmednagar on 14th March 1707 but he was later defeated & killed by his step brother Shah Alam Bahadur during the battle of Jajau on 8th June 1707. He ruled for very short span of 4 months only.
