Gold Dinar, 4.15g, Indian imitation of an Islamic Dinar of Umayyad dynasty, possibly dated AH 88. Pierced, very fine. Such imitations were inspired by Arab Dinars arriving in trade on the Western Coast of India, and most likely circulated as locally accepted gold currency. This piece is pierced twice in a typical fashion to be used in jewellery.
