Alamgir II, Gold, Mohur, 10.79g, Shahjahanabad Mint, RY 5, with couplet incorporating full name of the emperor on obverse. Very fine+, extremely rare. Some mohurs of RYs 4 and 5 show extreme crudeness in their execution. They appear to be issues of a non-imperial origin. There was considerable military activity around Delhi in these years and it is not certain who might have struck them. The Jats, the Marathas or local Zamindars are all possible contenders.
