Sawant Wadi, Khem Sawant III alias Bapusaheb Sawant, Copper Paisa, 7.05g, Obv: Devnagari legend "Raja KhemSawant" in three lines, Rev: Devnagari legend "Bahadur" in two lines. Very fine, extremely rare. The coin is counterstruck on East India Company’s issues from Bankot mint, commonly referred to as ‘local South Konkan’ coinage, struck in 1820-21. This clearly shows that coins in the name of KhemSawant III continued to be struck at Sawantwadi even after his death, which is fact otherwise unknown.
