Maharathi Sivakuhana, Lead, 11.20g, Karnataka, Krishna, Tungabhadra, Obv: Majestic elephan

Maharathi Sivakuhana, Lead, 11.20g, Karnataka, Krishna, Tungabhadra, Obv: Majestic elephant standing facing left, Brahmi legend “…thisa Sivakuha…” above, Rev: Elaborate tree-in-railing symbol. Very fine for type, very rare. Coins of Maharathi Sivakuhana have been extensively forged – however, very rarely does one come across a genuine piece. This is one such instance. Sivakuhana appears to be an independent Maharathi in North/Central Karnataka at the very end of Satavahana Empire.
