Muhammad Shah, Silver Rupee, 11.38g, “Couplet” type, Multan Mint, AH 1131/RY Ahad, Obv: Couplet legend Sikka zad dar Jahan az Fazl-i Alah / Badhshah-i Jahan Muhammad Shah, Rev: usual ‘Julus’ formula, mint name and RY. Deep bold strike, extremely fine, extremely rare. The couplet was used only in the first year of Muhammad Shah and only on the coins of Multan mint. Its variant ‘…az Lutf-i Alah’ is known on many more mints such as Surat and Gokak. At the beginning of the first hemistich, it resonates with the coin couplet of Aurangzeb.
