Akbar, Gold Mohur, 10.92g, “Kalima” type, Bang- Bhakkar Mint, AH 986, with “Ship” mint mark on reverse. Extremely fine, exceedingly rare. Nicholas Rhodes had noticed a similar mark on the square rupees of Bang mint and presented a view that round ‘Kalima’ type rupees with a similar mark should also be attributed to Bang (article in ‘Numismatic Digest’, vol.32-33). On these rupees the mint-name was previously read as Bhakkar but of course the reading could fit the orthography of ‘Bang’ as well.
