Pre Satavahana, Vidarbha, local coinage, Dharmabhadra, Alloyed Copper, 2.90g, Obv: Bull facing right, Nandipada in circle, Brahmi legend partly seen above “…mabhadasa”, Rev: Large symbol consisting of cross-shaped rectangles enclosing taurines and swastikas. Very fine, rare. Dharmabhadra was probably one of the last pre-Satavahana rulers of the South Vidarbha region. His coins are known to have been counterstruck by the Satavahana king Satakani, suggesting that by 50BC, the rule of the independent local kings in Vidarbha had come to an end.
