Tribal Coinage, The Sibi Janpada, Copper, 5.60g, Obv: Traces of symbols in the centre, Brahmi legend “…(mi)kaya Sibi Janapa….” around, Rev: Six-arched hill with crescent, wavy line below, traces of other symbols around. Very fine, exceedingly rare. The full legend on the coins of the Sibi Janpada people is Madhyamikaya Sibi Janapadasa, indicating that the state of the Sibi was centred around the city of Madhyamika. It has been identified with Nagari near Chittaurgarh in Rajasthan. The coins support this identification because they have been found in the excavations conducted at Nagari.
