Shahpeth- Shahnoor, Silver Rupee, 11.32g, “Azamnagar” type, in the name of Muhammad Shah with “lutf-alah Badshah Zaman” couplet, almost full Mint name visible on reverse. Very fine+, very rare. The remnants of the mint-name have been suggested to read ‘Shahpeth’, however no such place has been identified. It is likely that it reads ‘Shahnoor’ or a variation thereof. ‘Shahnoor’ was the Islamic name of Saonoor, a small principality in North Karnataka which was tributary to the Peshwas and ruled by Pathan Nawabs.
