
Rama Varma IV, Thiruvithamcore Varahan, Gold Half Kazhanju, 2.52g, 1877, Obv: Large RV within sprays, date above, Malayalam numeral 1052 below, encircled by legend “Travancore” in English and “Thiruvitamcodu” in Malayalam, Rev: Conch- Sankha within wreath and dotted circular border (B Sarasan# 214.2). Very fine+, exceedingly rare. Two Gold coins called Thiruvithamcore Varahan were introduce in ME 1052 (1877 AD) as the necessity for Gold coins were felt but it was not minted there after there for this issue is exceedingly rare.
