Aurangzeb, Gold Mohur, 11.05g, Karpa Mint, AH 1100/ RY 32 (Not listed in M). Extremely fine, exceedingly rare. Rayalseema region, in which the town of Karpa (Kadapa) is located came under Mughal control after Aurangzeb conquered and relinquished the Qutb Shahis after 1687. The RY on this coin suggests that it was struck soon after the Mughal conquest. The area was then ruled by a descendent of Nawab Neknam Khan, the Qutb Shahi governor, who died in 1672.
