Mitra rulers of Ancient Punjab, Bhanumitra, Copper, 4.21g, Obv: Standing male figure (Mahakal?) holding a staff in one hand and the other holding a water pot, traces of Kharoshthi legend “Rano Bhanumitasa” to left, Rev: Elephant with raised trunk advancing left; traces of Brahmi legend “Rano Bhanumitasa” above (Allan BMCAI, Pl. XLIII, no. 2). Very fine, very rare. The bilingual coins of the Mitra rulers of Punjab are among the rarest of the indigenous monarchical coins of north India. Very rare.
