Sikh Empire, Copper Pattern Paisa, 1830 (KM# Pn1, Herrli# 04.20.11, Valentine #04.20). Slabbed and graded by PCGS as AU Details. This pattern, citing Baba Nanak and Gur(u) Gobind Singh on obverse, has coarsely engraved Persian inscription on a machine struck planchet. Imitating the coins of the Amritsar mint with the famous ‘Leaf’ mint mark, these were most likely struck in a European Mint as this high quality of strike was only produced by the British Government mints in India at that time. It is also evident that the engraver was not familiar with the Persian script and has crudely imitated
