Alupas of Alvakheda, Gold Gadyana, 3.60g, Obv: Two fishes flanked by Poorna kumbha and Pedestal Lamp, Parasol above and Lotus below. Rev: Devnagari legend “Sri Pandya Dhanajaya”. Unpublished, extremely rare. Two Fishes, the Meena lanchhana, was the dynastic emblem of the Alupas, who ruled Mangalore and Udupi districts of Karnataka state and the Kasaragod district of Kerala state for nearly 1000 years.
