Kakatiyas of Warangal, Anonymous, repousse fabric, Gold Punch Marked, Gadyana, 3.78g, 33mm, Nine punches struck deeply on a very thin flan, a Boar facing left with sun and moon above in the centre, 2 x Kannada letter “Shri”, 4 x six-dotted lotuses, 1 x Kannada legend “Koma” and 1 x Kannada legend “Lenka” on obverse. About uncirculated, exceedingly rare. The Kakatiyas emerged as independent rulers in late 12th century. Prior to this, they ruled as feudatories of the Chalukyas of Kalyana. However, they also had feudatories of their own and these were known as ‘Lenkas’, lietrally meaning ‘bodygua
