Guptas, Samudra Gupta, Gold Dinar, 7.38g, ''Ashvamedha'' type, Obv: Sacrificial horse facing left tied to a Yupa or post, decorated with ribbons and banners fluttering above with letter ''Si'' in Brahmi between the legs denoting Sidhham, Brahmi legend starting at 12 o'clock around, Rev: Queen standing left on a lotus holding chauri (fly whisk) and vastra (ritual cloth), in left field is a suchi (ceremonial spear with ribbons), with Brahmi legend “Ashvamedha Parakramah” in the right field (S Kumar Class I, var A). Very fine for type, very rare.
