Copper Dam, 20.74g, in the name of Muhammad Shah, RY 19, Obv: Persian legend “Sikka Mubarak Muhammad Shah Badshah Ghazi”, Rev: Julus formula, RY and ‘Mumbai’ mint name. Very fine+, very rare. These rare and unusual coins were discussed in an article by Paul Stevens in JONS in which he contended that the RY on them was more likely to be 10. He therefore noted that it was not commensurate with documentary evidence he had discovered in the EIC papers. However, on this piece the RY is clearly 19 and this matches with the documentary evidence Stevens published.
