St. John Ambulance Brigade (SJAB) Seva Bronze Medal (India), 20.88g, Obv: Bust of Mahatma Gandhi, legend around, Rev: Awarded to 835 V.G VAIDYA, XVI Dist. St. JAB 1956. With suspender loop. Very fine, rare. The St John Ambulance Brigade was a British organisation that provided first aid and medical services in India, and is still active in the country. The medal awarded prior to 1947 had a profile of Queen Victoria on the obverse, which was replaced with that of Mahatma Gandhi post-1947.
