Guptas, Skanda Gupta, Silver Drachma, 2.04g, “Garuda” type, GE Date 15x, Obv: Emperor’s bust to right. GE Date (Varshe) 15x behind the bust, Rev: Garuda in center, cluster of dots to the right. Circular Brahmi legend starting 3 O’clock “Param Bhagvat Maharajadhiraj Shri Skandagupta Kramaditya” in cruder style. Very fine. Considered as the last of the Gupta emperors, Skanda Gupta is credited with decisively defeating the Hepthalite Huns. His coins with dates are very rare.
