Nadir shah Afsharid, Silver Rupee, 11.22g, Dar ul Khilafat Shahjahanabad Mint, AH 1152. Very fine. Nadir Shah invaded India in AH 1151 and defeated the Mughal Emperor Muhammad Shah. He then marched on to Delhi (Shahjahanabad). Khutba was read and coins were issued in his name, as he declared himself the new master of India. Nadir Shah held the city for few months and during his occupation ordered an infamous massacre of people of Delhi.
