Feudatory issue under Nawabs of Alinagar and Thuwn, Zulfiqar Khan, Copper Paisa, 7.68g, “Fish” type, Thuwan / Thoon Nagar Mint, imitating the Maratha issues of Brindaban (Mominabad), in the name of Shah Alam II, AH 1210/ RY 31. Very fine, very rare. The town of Thoon with its adjoining village of Nagar became the seat of Zulfiqar Ali Khan, a Mewati warlord in the turbulent time of late 1780s when the region became a hotbed of political intrigues between the Mughalia nobles, the Marathas, the Rohillas and the Jats. Rare copper coins were struck at Thoon, probably to take profits of local copper
