Early Medieval Karnataka, Chalukya/ Hoysala Period, Anonymous, Gold Gadyana, 3.73g, struck in the name of ‘Isapura’, Obv: Lord Rama and Lakshmana seated, and Hanuman receiving Raja mudrika, Rev: Hal-kannada legend “Sri I sa pura” in two lines separated by a fly-whisk symbol. Very fine, extremely rare. Isapura is the old name of Isuru, now part of Shikaripura taluk, Shimoga district. The local Rameshwara temple was authorized to issue coins since the Kadambas of Banavasi period, and the tradition continued during the rule of Kalyani Chalukyas, the Hoysalas, Kadambas later branch and the Sevunas
