Kushan, Kanishka, Copper, 15.69g, “Maitreya Buddha” type, Obv: Bearded King offering at altar holding log spear, the king wears a peaked cap, long coat & trousers, scarf around the shoulders, a belt with a sword is girded around the waist, Greek legend around, Rev: Lord Maitreya Buddha seated cross leg, his left hand holding water bottle & right hand in Abhay mudra, Greek legend “MHTRAYO BOYΔO” (Gobl 793, Piper# 1753). Very fine+ for type, extremely rare.
