South India, anonymous Copper Cash, 1.52g, Obv: Horse rider, Rev: Devnagari letter “Ja” in grid pattern, typical of South Carnatic style. Extremely fine, rare. In an old book titled “Coin collectin in Mysore” by Col.Hawakes, he mentions coins name “Ashwaputtie” were struck at Gurramkomda” in present day South Andhra Pradesh. As this coin has a horse rider motif, it could well be an example of such a coin.
