William IV, Proof Restrike, Gold, Two Mohurs, 23.29g, “R.S. incused”, 1835, Calcutta Mint, Milled edge, Obv: Bust facing to right, R.S. incuse on truncation of neck, English legend & date “WILLIAM IIII, KING. 1835”, Rev: A lion facing to left in front of a Palm tree, English legend “EAST INDIA COMPANY, TWO MOHURS” & In Persian “DO ASHARFI” (Prid# 3). Brilliant, extremely rare. Initial R.S. is for Robert Saunders, the Mint Master of the Calcutta Mint from January 1826 to January 1836.
