Bareilly, Silver Rupee, 11.07g, struck by Nawab Khan Bahadur Khan during the Revolt at Bareilly, in the name of Shah Alam II, AH 1274/ RY 73 (Plate specimen of KM# 48). Extremely fine, great historical important coin of supreme rarity. Bareilly erupted in revolt on 31st May 1857, when Indian soldiers mutinied under the command of Bakht Khan and Muhammad Shafi. They choose 80 year old Khan Bahadur Khan, the grandson of the Rohilla chieftain Hafiz Rahmat Khan, as their leader. Khan Bahadur Khan declared his allegiance to the Mughal Emperor at Delhi and assumed the role of the Subahdar and Nawab
