Mumbai, Fractional Gold, 1/3 ? Mohur, 3.86g, “Malabar Coast” issue, in the name of Alamgir

Mumbai, Fractional Gold, 1/3 ? Mohur, 3.86g, “Malabar Coast” issue, in the name of Alamgir II (Posthumous), RY 9. Complete mint name “Munbai” on bottom of reverse. (Not listed in Pridmore or other major Publication). Extremely fine, exceedingly rare. The weight of the coin suggests that it was a 1/3rd Mohur or 5 rupees, hence the name ‘Panchia’. But in the South, the weight corresponded closely also to a Pagoda or Hoan, and thus the denomination can be used as ‘bridging’ for the two currency systems.
