Sampgaon, Silver Rupee, 10.94g, “Azamnagar” type, in the name of Muhammad Shah with “lutf-alah Badshah Zaman” couplet, Sampgaon Mint, RY 6. Almost complete Mint name visible on bottom of reverse. Extremely fine, very rare.Sampgaon was an important market town in North Karnataka. These coins were attributed to Bankapur by Maheshwari & Wiggins but the name was corrected to ‘Sampgaon’ on evidence of coins where it was clearly read.
