Guptas, Chandra Gupta I, Gold Dinar, 7.42g, “King and Queen” type, Obv: Nimbate king standing holding a standard in one hand in front of a Nimbate Queen, her hand on her hip, offering her a gift (ring?) with the other hand, a crescent between the two figures, Brahmi legend “Chandra Gupta” on either side of the standard, and legend “Sri Kumardevi”, Rev: Nimbate Goddess, seated on a prostrate lion facing right, holding cornucopia in one hand and a noose in the other, Brahmi legend “Lichchhawayah” to right and a Tamgha in the left field (S Kumar# Class 1, Variety A.2). Very fine, very rare.
