The legend Kadakanam appearing on coins is a Prakrit rendering of the word Kshudrakanam who have found mention in the Mahabharata at several instances. The first literary reference to Kshudrakas appears in Panini’s work who mentions of a Kshudraka-Malava sena alliance.
