Satavahanas, Junnar region, Siri Satakani (c.100-50BC), Alloyed Copper, 7.82g, “Shrivatsa” type, Obv: A row of symbols bold Shrivatsa in the centre, tree in railing to its left and six-arched hill to the right, Brahmi legend “…Siri Satakanisa” above, Rev: Ujjain-symbol with Swastikas in orbs, enclosed in a rectangular border. Extremely fine, extremely rare. Sanjay More and Vijay Hiran first published coins of the ‘Shrivatsa’ type in Numismatic Digest 1992, alongside ‘Abhisheka Lakshmi’ coins from Junnar.
